VIRGINIA - President Donald Trump approved Virginia's disaster declaration Thursday, ordering federal assistance to supplement Commonwealth, tribal and local recovery efforts in areas affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
The president’s action makes federal funding available to state, tribal, and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations for emergency protective measures, including direct federal assistance, for all areas in Virginia impacted by the pandemic.
MaryAnn Tierney was named as the federal coordinating officer for federal recovery operations in Virginia's affected areas.
The president approved North Carolina's disaster declaration March 26.
