NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - In honor of National Nurses Week, Riverside held a food drive to donate 5,000 meals to the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank.
National Nurses Week is from May 6 to May 12.
Riverside held a health system-wide food drive on Tuesday and delivered 2,147 pounds of food and a $802.73 donation to the Foodbank.
The donation will create 5,000 meals to help feed those in need.
Food collected during the drive at Riverside Tappahannock Hospital and Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital were delivered separately to food pantries in their communities.
