NORFOLK, Va. - Eight adults and four children have been displaced after a fire early Wednesday morning that damaged two homes.
Norfolk Fire crews first responded to the 8000 block of Simons Drive around 11:30 p.m., Tuesday night.
The fire impacted multiple structures, fire officials said. The fire was under control around 2 a.m.
Seven adults and four children have displaced from one residence, officials said.
The Red Cross has been contacted to help them.
One resident from a smaller nearby home was also displaced and is with family, officials said.
The fire is believed to have started in the back of a the large home and flames eventually spread to the smaller home next door.
The family from the larger home said they have lived there for four years and that they lost the back garage and a newly renovated kitchen in the fire.
They added that most of them were awake when they noticed the house was on fire.
Currently, there are no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
