Suffolk residents able to return home following gas line break

SUFFOLK, Va. - Officials responded to a gas line break in Suffolk Thursday morning.

The break happened in the 6400 block of Sandgate Drive North in the Castlewood subdivision. Emergency Communications was made aware of the incident at 10:34 a.m.

Investigators said contractors working in the area ruptured a gas service line. Columbia Natural Gas repair crews responded to the scene.

Three occupied homes were evacuated as a result of the incident, while four additional homes had residents sheltering in place, officials said.

No injuries were reported.
