Summer Food Service Program provided by local foodbank feeds kids for free

Summer meal sites provide free, healthy, nutritious meals to children ages 5–18 at a first come, first serve basis

NORFOLK, Va. - The Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore is participating in the Summer Food Service Program.

Summer meal sites provide free, healthy, nutritious meals to children ages 5–18 at a first come, first serve basis. Summer meal sites are located in low-income neighborhoods so that participating children can walk or bike to receive meals in a safe, supportive environment where social distancing measures will be taken to ensure the health and well-being of children participating.

Summer feeding sites are scheduled for the locations below.

  • April 20–April 24, 2020 Southside Boys & Girls Club, Berkley Unit, 701 Berkley Avenue Extension, Norfolk. 757-545-3289 Mondays through Fridays, 4:30 –5:30 p.m. Children will receive daily lunch and afternoon snack.
  • April 27–June 12, 2020 Southside Boys & Girls Club, Berkley Unit, 701 Berkley Avenue Extension, Norfolk. 757-545-3289 Monday through Friday, 4:30 –5:30 p.m. Children will receive daily lunch and afternoon snack
  • April 27–June 12, 2020 The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center of Hampton Roads, 1401 Ballentine Blvd., Norfolk. 757-622-5762 Mondays and Wednesdays 11 a.m. to noon.

Children will receive two lunches and two snacks on Mondays, to be eaten through Tuesday, and receive three lunches and three snacks on Wednesday to be eaten Friday.
