PORTSMOUTH, Va. - The Portsmouth Police Department is investigating after a shooting incident left a man dead Friday night.
According to police, at approximately 9:27 p.m., dispatch received a 911 call for a male who was shot in the 2500 block of Oakleaf Place. When officers arrived at the scene, they found an adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound.
Medics arrived and pronounced the man dead at the scene. At this time, his name will not be released.
Detectives have taken a suspect into custody and the investigation into this homicide is ongoing.
