HAMPTON ROADS, Va. - Thousands of customers were without power Monday morning as severe storms made their way through the area.

According to the Dominion Energy outage map, there were over 111,000 customers without power in the Southeastern Virginia region, about 700 customers without power in the Middle Peninsula/Northern Neck region and just over 5,200 without power in North Carolina as of Monday afternoon.

As of 1:30 p.m., Tuesday Dominion Energy reports that 8,500 Hampton Roads and Noorth Carolina customers still do not have power.

Dominion Energy said, "crews have made great progress in restoring customers affected by the wind storm that hit our service territory Monday morning. We expect the vast majority of our customers who experienced an outage to be restored by 11:00 PM on Tuesday evening. There will be a small number of customers whose restoration will extend into Wednesday in areas that experienced more significant damages."

Tuesday afternoon, the area with the most outages is Virginia Beach at nearly 7,000 outages, followed by Chesapeake at 1,233 customers without power.
