United States troop movement overseas has been frozen, sources told CNN.

CNN reported that US Defense Secretary Mark Esper signed an order that freezes all movement overseas for 60 days because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Three defense officials told CNN about the order which means all US service members that are overseas or that are scheduled to deploy will stay where they are for 60 days.

CNN said the freeze order affects 90,000 scheduled deployments. This includes troops scheduled to return home and deploy overseas.

There are some exceptions to the order which include Navy ships that are returning to the US.
