VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.— Thanksgiving dinner is coming together with help from local businesses. They’re dishing out everything from turkeys to all the fixings, so you don’t have to.

Flour Child Bakery in Virginia Beach has been filling Thanksgiving pre-order since Monday. Owner Cathy Baker says the past five day have been the busiest of the year. “It’s been insane,” she said.

The bakery has been insanely busy in a less than normal year. They accidentally allowed about 12 dozen more dinner roll pre-orders than they bargained for.

“We sold out of space for dinner rolls probably almost a month ago,” explained Baker.

Jennifer Mills says she placed her order on Halloween and thinks her baked goods will be the highlight of her Thanksgiving menu, “we are picking up the salted caramel apple pie and the butter— honey butter dinner rolls.”

Flour Child Bakery has made around 90 dozen dinner rolls and 250 pies since Monday. Baker says she and her daughter had to sleep at the bakery to get it all done. “It was fun. We ordered food in. We made dinner rolls till almost midnight last night,” she explained.

Thanksgiving pre-orders were piled high Wednesday and staff was still baking in the back.

The mom and daughter run business has been dishing out desserts for the last decade and this pandemic isn’t slowing them down.

“They just come in and they just thank us, thank us, thank us, you know, and we’re like ‘hey, we want to thank you,'” said Baker.

Stressed spelled backwards is desserts and Baker says customers have been keeping the orders coming to get some relief during the pandemic.

"Every person that comes in, we try to thank them so much for allowing our doors to be open and our girls to be at work,” said Baker.

From the happy customers to the busy staff, everyone has something to be thankful for this holiday season.
