VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - A local equine therapy center held a socially-distanced fitness fundraiser to support its farm and the disabled children, adults and military service members that depend on it.

Equi-Kids, one of the largest accredited equine riding programs in the country, moved its annual 5K Dog and Pony Run online due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Virtual Move-A-Thon, which began Friday and will continue through Monday, asks supporters to walk, run, dance, lift weights, jump rope or perform any other physical activity in support of the program.

Select families are doing livestreamed challenges to raise money for the farm, and anyone participating is asked to use the hashtag #MoveForEQUIKIDS.

Funds will go towards keeping the farm's horses safe and healthy, and making sure the program will be able to continue running, as Equi-Kids is entirely funded by private donations.
