Virginia coronavirus cases jump by over 1,000 in a day as Phase One continues

The Virginia Department of Health released their daily updated numbers involving coronavirus cases within the state.

According to their website, there are now 32,145 total cases, 30,539 of which are confirmed and 1,606 are probable. There are 1,041 total coronavirus related deaths, with 1,007 being confirmed and 34 being probable. The case numbers are up by 1,005, and deaths are up by 27 since Monday.

A total of 201,183 reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction lab testing encounters have happened.

The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association also updated their numbers. As of Tuesday there are 1,024 people currently being hospitalized for coronavirus. There are 473 people currently receiving inpatient hospital care whose test results are pending. 377 confirmed positive patients, and those whose test results are pending, are currently hospitalized in the ICU.

199 hospital patients, both confirmed for coronavirus, and those with test results pending, are currently on a ventilator. 638 ventilators are being used in hospitals out of the 2,947 in the state - that's 22% usage.

4,271 patients who have been hospitalized for coronavirus have been discharged.

  • Chesapeake- 396 cases, 78 hospitalized, 10 deaths
  • Accomack- 701 cases, 34 hospitalized, 9 deaths
  • Northampton- 204 cases, 17 hospitalized, 11 deaths
  • Hampton- 164 cases, 30 hospitalized, 3 deaths
  • Norfolk- 370 cases, 57 hospitalized, 6 deaths
  • James City County- 189 cases, 54 hospitalized, 15 deaths
  • Newport News- 209 cases, 38 hospitalized, 10 deaths
  • Poquoson- 7 cases, 2 hospitalized, 0 deaths
  • Williamsburg- 43 cases, 9 hospitalized, 3 deaths
  • York County- 63 cases, 9 hospitalized, 3 deaths
  • Portsmouth- 237 cases, 39 hospitalized, 10 deaths
  • Gloucester- 28 cases, 7 hospitalized, 1 deaths
  • Virginia Beach- 559 cases, 87 hospitalized, 19 deaths
  • Franklin City- 32 cases, 2 hospitalized, 1 death
  • Isle of Wight- 119 cases, 10 hospitalized, 3 deaths
  • Southampton- 137 cases, 4 hospitalized, 2 deaths
  • Suffolk- 269 cases, 41 hospitalized, 25 deaths
