NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Virginia Living Museum now offers virtual learning programs in response to Governor Northam's statewide mass gathering ban.
The Virginia Living Museum wants Virginia residents of all ages to join educators and animal welfare and conservation staff on the musuem's social media accounts daily.
The museum will offer engaging lessons, animal ambassadors, adventure challenges, and live feedings.
The virtual learning programs will begin at 8 a.m with the following schedule:
· 8am | Diet of the Day - Sink your teeth into what our animals eat, what their diet consists of & other animal facts!
· 10am | Awesome Animal Ambassadors - Experience a daily encounter with a VLM ambassador animal presented by our expert staff!
· 11am | VLM Facebook LIVE – fish and animal feedings and enrichment.
· 12pm | Nature at Noon - Learn about something you can find in your own backyard.
· 2pm | Social Picks - Topics most popular on social media.
o Monday | Who Knows? Bo Knows Mammals – See a special ambassador animal.
o Tuesday | Twitter Chat – Ask us your science questions. It’s a twitter takeover!
o Wednesday | Weird & Wild – Odd animal facts that are strange but true!
o Thursday | Outdoor Adventure – Join an educator for an activity you can do outside.
o Friday | Science Friday – Discover a science experiment to do at home.
o Saturday | Living Green Sustainably – Think like a conservationist and learn to conserve.
o Sunday | Starry Stories – All about Astronomy: constellations, myths, & legends.
· 2:30pm | VLM Facebook LIVE – fish and animal feedings and enrichment.
· 4pm | VLM Mysteries - What is it? Identify the photo and give it your best guess. It could be an animal nose, a fluffy tail or an item from our amazing collections. Solve the mystery yourself and find out if you are correct the next day! Visit Instagram
