Virginia reports 1,132 new coronavirus cases on first day of mask order, state total now 42,533 cases

The Virginia Department of Health released their daily updated numbers involving coronavirus cases within the state.

According to their website, there are now 42,533 total cases, 40,477 of which are confirmed and 2,056 are probable. There are 1,358 total coronavirus related deaths, with 1,258 being confirmed and 100 being probable. The case numbers are up by 1,132, and deaths are up by 20 since Thursday.

A total of 296,321 PCR testing encounters have happened across all health districts.

The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association also updated their numbers. As of Thursday, there are 999 people currently being hospitalized for coronavirus. There are 525 people currently receiving inpatient hospital care whose test results are pending. 373 confirmed positive patients, and those whose test results are pending, are currently hospitalized in the ICU.

193 hospital patients, both confirmed for coronavirus, and those with test results pending, are currently on a ventilator. 626 ventilators are being used in hospitals out of the 2,954 in the state - that's 21% usage.

5,648 patients who have been hospitalized for coronavirus have been discharged.

  • Accomack- 827 cases, 49 hospitalized, 12 deaths
  • Northampton- 228 cases, 26 hospitalized, 20 deaths
  • Hampton- 192 cases, 30 hospitalized, 3 deaths
  • Norfolk- 470 cases, 67 hospitalized, 6 deaths
  • James City County- 202 cases, 54 hospitalized, 15 deaths
  • Newport News- 257 cases, 39 hospitalized, 10 deaths
  • Poquoson- 7 cases, 2 hospitalized, 0 deaths
  • Williamsburg- 44 cases, 10 hospitalized, 4 deaths
  • York County- 72 cases, 9 hospitalized, 3 deaths
  • Portsmouth- 294 cases, 43 hospitalized, 11 deaths
  • Gloucester- 30 cases, 7 hospitalized, 1 death
  • Virginia Beach- 680 cases, 92 hospitalized, 23 deaths
  • Franklin City- 42 cases, 3 hospitalized, 2 deaths
  • Isle of Wight- 127 cases, 12 hospitalized, 3 deaths
  • Southampton- 146 cases, 6 hospitalized, 2 deaths
  • Suffolk- 311 cases, 49 hospitalized, 32 deaths
