Virginia reports 495 new coronavirus cases, bringing state total to 36,244

The Virginia Department of Health released their daily updated numbers involving coronavirus cases within the state.

According to their website, there are now 36,244 total cases, 34,451 of which are confirmed and 1,793 are probable. There are 1,171 total coronavirus related deaths, with 1,135 being confirmed and 36 being probable. The case numbers are up by 495, and deaths are up by 12 since Saturday.

A total of 242,292 people in Virginia have now been tested.

The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association also updated their numbers. As of Sunday, there are 940 people currently being hospitalized for coronavirus. There are 411 people currently receiving inpatient hospital care whose test results are pending. 354 confirmed positive patients, and those whose test results are pending, are currently hospitalized in the ICU.

192 hospital patients, both confirmed for coronavirus, and those with test results pending, are currently on a ventilator. 612 ventilators are being used in hospitals out of the 2,954 in the state - that's 21% usage.

5,102 patients who have been hospitalized for coronavirus have been discharged.

  • Norfolk 399 cases, 61 hospitalized, 6 deaths
  • James City County 196 cases, 55 hospitalized, 16 deaths
  • Newport News 237 cases, 38 hospitalized, 10 deaths
  • Poquoson 7 cases, 2 hospitalized, 0 deaths
  • Williamsburg 43 cases, 9 hospitalized, 3 deaths
  • York County 68 cases, 9 hospitalized, 3 deaths
  • Portsmouth 262 cases, 40 hospitalized, 11 deaths
  • Gloucester 30 cases, 7 hospitalized, 1 death
  • Virginia Beach 603 cases, 90 hospitalized, 19 deaths
  • Franklin City 38 cases, 2 hospitalized, 1 death
