Virginia reports daily rise of 796 coronavirus cases, bringing state total to 65,109

The Virginia Department of Health released their daily updated numbers involving coronavirus cases within the state.

According to their website, there are now 65,109 total cases, 62,400 of which are confirmed and 2,709 are probable. There are 1,849 total coronavirus related deaths, with 1,745 being confirmed and 104 being probable. The case numbers are up by 796, and deaths are up by 4 since Friday.

A total of 696,520 total PCR testing encounters have now happened in Virginia.

The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association also updated their numbers. As of Saturday, there are 528 people currently being hospitalized for coronavirus. There are 280 people currently receiving inpatient hospital care whose test results are pending. 207 confirmed positive patients, and those whose test results are pending, are currently hospitalized in the ICU.

99 hospital patients, both confirmed for coronavirus, and those with test results pending, are currently on a ventilator. 620 ventilators are being used in hospitals out of the 3,000 in the state - that's 21% usage.

8,741 patients who have been hospitalized for coronavirus have been discharged.

  • Hampton 360 cases, 41 hospitalized, 5 deaths (+6 cases from Friday)
  • Norfolk 1,067 cases, 113 hospitalized, 12 deaths (+67 cases from Friday)
  • James City County 279 cases, 58 hospitalized, 15 deaths (+9 cases from Friday)
  • Newport News 568 cases, 45 hospitalized, 10 deaths (+19 cases from Friday)
  • Poquoson 19 cases, 2 hospitalized, 0 deaths (+0 cases from Friday)
  • Williamsburg 64 cases, 12 hospitalized, 6 deaths (+3 cases from Friday)
  • York County 124 cases, 10 hospitalized, 3 deaths (+4 cases from Friday)
  • Portsmouth 539 cases, 73 hospitalized, 18 deaths (+13 cases from Friday)
