Virginia reports more than 1,000 new coronavirus cases, bringing state total to 29,683

The Virginia Department of Health released their daily updated numbers involving coronavirus cases within the state.

According to their website, there are now 29,683 total cases, 28,233 of which are confirmed and 1,450 are probable. There are 1,002 total coronavirus related deaths, with 968 being confirmed and 34 being probable. The case numbers are up by 1,011, and deaths are up by 25 since Friday.

A total of 184,118 people in Virginia have now been tested.

The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association also updated their numbers. As of Saturday, there are 1,020 people currently being hospitalized for coronavirus. There are 485 people currently receiving inpatient hospital care whose test results are pending. 381 confirmed positive patients, and those whose test results are pending, are currently hospitalized in the ICU.

189 hospital patients, both confirmed for coronavirus, and those with test results pending, are currently on a ventilator. 621 ventilators are being used in hospitals out of the 2,952 in the state - that's 21% usage.

3,909 patients who have been hospitalized for coronavirus have been discharged.

  • Norfolk 350 cases, 56 hospitalized, 5 deaths
  • James City County 179 cases, 54 hospitalized, 15 deaths
  • Newport News 187 cases, 38 hospitalized, 10 deaths
  • Poquoson 7 cases, 2 hospitalized, 0 deaths
  • Williamsburg 43 cases, 9 hospitalized, 3 deaths
  • York County 62 cases, 9 hospitalized, 3 deaths
  • Portsmouth 222 cases, 39 hospitalized, 10 deaths
  • Gloucester 28 cases, 7 hospitalized, 1 death
  • Virginia Beach 539 cases, 86 hospitalized, 19 deaths
  • Franklin City 27 cases, 2 hospitalized, 1 death
