HERTFORD Co., N.C. - A woman was killed on Wednesday after her home was shot at several times.

Around 3:38 a.m., reports say there were several shots fired at a residence in the 200 E Wynn Street, Winton, N.C.

The homeowner, Iris Hines, and her daughter, Carika Macole Vann, were home at the time of the incident. Vann was killed due to her injuries following the shooting. Deputies say she was 30 years old and a mother of one.

There are no suspects at this time and the homicide investigation is in its early stage.

If anyone has information about this shooting, contact the Hertford County Sheriff's Office at (252) 358-7800.

“It saddens me greatly to see a life taken, a mother, daughter, aunt and a friend,” Deputy Hayes said in a press release. “I pray for the family and I pray that we can bring them some justice for the loss of their love one.”

A neighboring town in Perquimans County recently imposed a curfew for their residents after drive-by shootings left multiple people injured. Mayor Earnell Brown in the town of Hertford announced Tuesday that from September 15-22, children under the age of 18 are to be off the streets from 4 p.m. to 6 a.m., while adults 18 and older are to be off the streets from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.

Hertford County and the town of Hertford are about an hour away from each other - both reporting injuries from drive-by shooting.
