NORFOLK, Va. - The YMCA of South Hampton Roads and the YMCA of the Virginia Peninsulas are swapping members with Norfolk Botanical Garden for the first time.
For the month of September, members of both YMCA organizations will have the opportunity to visit Norfolk Botanical Garden, and pass holders for Norfolk Botanical Garden will be able to visit YMCA locations in South Hampton Roads and on the Peninsula.
Norfolk Botanical Garden aligns with the YMCA wanting places for members to connect and stay active while having fun.
Botanical Garden offers 175 acres of gardens with thousands of plants in bloom, 15 miles of paved trails and mulched pathways, educational opportunities for all ages, and even a cafe to round the day out. There are bike nights, doggie days and currently a special exhibit of flamingo topiaries for members to enjoy.
The Y encourages its members to take advantage of the swap as a means to bring an “out of the classroom” supplement to the academic curriculum.
Any Y member that purchases a year pass to the Gardens in September gets an extra two months added to their year pass.
Norfolk Botanical Garden members will have access to all YMCA of South Hampton Roads’ and YMCA of the Virginia Peninsulas’ locations, discounts on member program, drop-in childcare services while they use Y facilities, and access to group exercise classes.
Garden members that join the Y in September will not be charged a joining fee.
