VIRGINA BEACH, Va. - Right now, you could be exposing yourself to the coronavirus and not realize it.

News 3 spent time at Mount Trashmore this week and found that some people aren't following the proper protocols.

A man was seen wiping sweat off his body with his shirt, then rubbing the shirt along the public railing as he made his way down the steps. The video was taken Wednesday.

Dr. Ryan Light with Tidewater Physicians Multispecialty was shown the video, and said people need to be careful about what they're touching in public.

Rain earlier this week has caused many to want to go outside, especially with warm weather in the forecast.

“This is the first in our lifetime where we’ve all been quarantined and told to stay home. We will get a little stir-crazy at the house,” Light said.

Also while at Mount Trashmore, News 3 spotted people touching the doors at the restroom as they go in and out. You could also see many people grabbing the hand rail or standing too close together.

Others were seen practicing social distancing or wearing gloves and masks.

“There’s a lot of large groups, people coming in contact with each other,” Light said. “People touching the rails, you’re putting yourself at high risk to getting this virus. We're seeing that it is spreading and we still need to be practicing social distancing.”

Light warns that if you go outside to a public area or to the supermarket you need to take action to protect yourself, your loved ones and your community.
