NORFOLK, Va. — Tucked away on 11th Bay Street in the Ocean View section of Norfolk, is another masterpiece by artist, Abby Pawley.
"There's a smaller turtle and a big turtle and they're swimming to the top of the water, but there's light coming in and the bottom is darker so it's kind of symbolizing rebirth, says artist Abby Pawley.
That's exactly what the owner of this building wanted. Something that was once old, is now new again.
Pawley says it took her about 14 days to finish the mural.
"It was freezing. It was mid-January. I was wearing giant gloves. My paint was drying really fast from the cold. That one was hard. I've never done one midwinter," says Pawley.
Pawley says, she's always learning new techniques and enjoys watching other artists.
"There's the two brothers at Talent Murals. They are a huge inspiration to me and watching them has made me better," says Pawley.
When Pawley isn't inspiring people passing by her murals, she's empowering women through her oil paintings on canvas.
