VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Local frontline workers are receiving a nice gift as the New Year got underway.

Since the onset of the pandemic, first responders and essential workers have worked tirelessly to keep our community safe, healthy and operational.

In order to thank them in one way, local Ashley HomeStores partnered with family-owned Grand Furniture, Tempur-Pedic©, United Way of South Hampton Roads and Entercom radio stations Z104, 94.9 The Point, 95.7 R&B and 2WD 103.3 to give them a much-needed rest with the Good Night’s Sleep Mattress Giveaway.

Community members were invited to nominate a frontline worker they thought deserved some rest and recognition for going above and beyond. Nominations were received between November 23 and December 20, 2020.

Winners were being contacted and deliveries started at the start of the new year.

“We reached out to our community to have them nominate the people they know who’ve taken care of us during these times,” said Matt Stein, co-owner and vice president of sales of Grand Brands featuring Ashley HomeStores SEVA, Grand Furniture and GFO. “Our first responders and essential workers really deserve a good night's sleep. That’s why we’ve highlighted our relationship with Tempur-Pedic to give away 80 of their certified reconditioned queen mattresses during the holidays and why this community partnership is so special,” Stein continued.
