PITTSBURGH - The University of Pittsburgh football program has announced that freshman running back Malik Newton has been medically disqualified from playing football at Pitt, as originally reported by Pittsburgh Sports Now.
The Lake Taylor High School product will remain as a member of the Panthers football team.
Newton was one of four local high school recruits to sign with Pitt on December's National Signing Day.
