NORFOLK, Va. - On Saturday, the Old Dominion football coaching staff gathered to take part in a caravan that visited Monarch fans.
“It’s nice to see the coach getting out there and being a part of the community,” ODU football fan Penny Wile said.
“We didn’t get the big opening with spring practice and everything, so it was great just to see them in the neighborhood,” Rose Behson added.
The coronavirus pandemic led to the cancelation of spring events, which would have given the new coaching staff a chance to interact with their fan base.
Today, coaches tried to interact with fans as best as they could during a pandemic and gathered on campus to form a caravan. They visited roughly 13 miles of ODU's surrounding neighborhoods.
The event was titled "Big Blue's Cruise", as Big Blue the mascot led the way, followed by coaches and their families.
While the team creates excitement ahead of the 2020 season, which is currently scheduled to begin September 4th against Wake Forest, the pandemic creates uncertainty about whether the college football season will go according to plan.
