VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Virginia Beach Police Benevolent Association went out into the community Friday to put up signs thanking healthcare workers and dispatchers.

Signs went up at the 911 dispatch center and several area hospitals.

Members said they wanted to express gratitude for the people working on the front lines of the pandemic every day.

Virginia Beach Police Benevolent Association President Brian Luciano said like police, these employees are on the front lines. He said police are constantly working with the staff at area hospitals, and work with dispatchers on a moment-to-moment basis while on the clock.

He said police wanted to show appreciation for what healthcare workers do and thank them for their hard work, especially in these difficult times.

The association also dropped off custom-made cookies to show their appreciation.
