First Warning Forecast: Sunshine finally breaks out on Tuesday, rain chances go up for Christmas Eve

Meteorologist April Loveland's First Warning Forecast

Temperatures will fall to near 40 overnight under partly cloudy skies.

High pressure will build in on Tuesday with highs in the low 50s It will be a bit on the breezy side, but at least there will be plenty of sunshine. Winds will be out of the W/NW at 15-20 mph, gusts up to 30 mph possible. Skies will be clear overnight with lows in the low and mid 30s.

Rain chances will go up just in time for Christmas Eve as a strong cold front moves in. Models are still back and forth on the timing of the rain, but right now looks like rain should move in by Thursday afternoon. Temperatures will be very warm ahead of the cold front with highs in the mid 60s. Expect rain to continue overnight. Temperatures will still be in the 50s. Showers are possible Christmas morning with quickly drying conditions. As of now, all the moisture will be out of here by the time the real cold air moves in. Expect the precipitation to be plain rain. Skies will turn partly cloudy as the day progresses and temperatures will drop into the 40s by the afternoon. Temperatures will plummet into the upper 20s overnight.

Dry and cold heading into the weekend. Expect many communities to struggle to get out of the upper 30s on Saturday.
