We tracked down this week's award winner, Sandy Hellstern,  sweating it out on the beach in Norfolk's Ocean View.

"Sandy could you please stand up?"

"We would like to present you with a people taking action award!"

Sandy has been coming to this bootcamp workout held by Trainer Ken Williams for 8 years and he's the one who nominated her for the award.

"Every Saturday she goes out to Petsmart and takes shelter animals and makes sure they get adopted and find homes tremendous things. Shes been doing in 9 years straight without fail."

She does this on her ONLY day off. The rest of the week, she's a full-time financial counselor for the elderly, takes care of two family members who are ill, and managed to show up here at Ken's bootcamp consistently for the past 8 years. She's lost 55 pounds!!

"I'm speechless and that's rare."

We also presented her with a 300 dollar gift card from our partner Southern Bank.

"I'm shocked I never win anything!"

With so much on her plate, I asked her why she does what she does.

"We're the voice for the voice-less. They have nobody to help them they're like children or the elderly if somebody doesn't step up to help them there's nobody that will."

And we're pleased to recognize Sandy for all of her hard work.
