NORFOLK, Va. - Norfolk Police are investigating a shooting that occurred at 1:45 a.m. on Thursday.

An 18-year-old woman was shot in the 1300 block of W 42nd Street, just one block south of the Old Dominion University campus.

The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injures. Police say she is not an ODU student.

Neighbors on 42nd Street say they heard multiple gunshots.

“We were just having a good time and all of a sudden you hear ‘pop pop pop,’ and it sounded so close," said Hasan Agilonu, whose friends - ODU students - were hosting a Halloween party. "There was this one girl [outside[. She was like, 'My head'. She turned around and you could just see the blood all down her back."

Agilonu says the woman's friends rushed her inside his friends' home.

"We just put a towel around her head and kept pressure until the cops arrived," he recalled.

Bullets also struck a house and Agilonu's car. He tells News 3 he didn't see who fired the gun and doesn't know why they did it.

“I didn’t know what happened," said Joe King, a junior at ODU, who tells News 3 he returned home after police taped off his street. "There [were] people running in every direction, so I wanted to figure out what happened. It kind of scared me, kind of freaked me out.”

Police say they do not have any suspect information.
