VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Stephanie Fulford is a disabled veteran who served 20 years in the United States Army.
Following a successful kidney transplant, she believed that the Lord had given her a second chance at life for a purpose.
Fulford doubled her volunteer efforts since that life-changing event. She has become a beacon of light to others serving in whatever capacity needed, according to her church family at Greater St. Andrews A.M.E Church in Virginia Beach.
While serving as a caregiver to family members, Fulford provides transportation to and from doctor’s offices as well as grocery store runs for the sick and seniors in the community.
During times of bereavement, you will find her comforting family members and doing whatever is needed each day leading up to the homegoing services of their loved ones.
Fulford didn’t miss a beat during the pandemic, according to church members. She cleaned and sanitized the church following services and delivered food to senior citizens as well as those who are less fortunate.
Each day she wakes up asking what she can do to make this world a better place. Those are some of the reasons that Stephanie Fulford is the latest volunteer to receive a News 3 Everyday Hero award.
