VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – EQUI-KIDS, a non-profit organization that serves special needs children and military veterans, is getting creative this Halloween.

The equine facility is located off Sandbridge Road in Virginia Beach. COVID-19 has forced them to suspend lessons for children, because ensuring riders' safety requires close contact.

This is the second year EQUI-KIDS has teamed up with the Virginia Beach Police Mounted Patrol to celebrate Halloween. This year, they’re offering a drive-thru trick-or-treating event, complete with a candy chute, so that volunteers can maintain a social distance. Participants can dress up, stay in their cars, and drive around the decorated farm and see many horses dressed up in costumes.

The event is open to the public as well as members. It will be Thursday from 5-8 p.m., at 2626 Heritage Park Drive in Virginia Beach.

Donations will be accepted on-site. You can also text EKDonate to 44321.
