WILLLIAMSBURG, Va. - Many local Democratic leaders held a canvass kickoff Sunday.

Sens. Mark Warner and Tim Kaine, Gov. Ralph Northam and Congresswoman Elaine Luria were in Williamsburg for a meet and greet Sunday afternoon.

News 3 spoke with Sen. Warner, who is backing Joe Biden in the presidential race, saying Biden will help heal the divide we're experiencing in the country right now.

“I think it's time for us to stop the red states, blue states and recognize that this country is a lot stronger if we work together. And I think that's what Joe Biden will bring. I think that's the kind of approach we need to get this virus behind us, to get the economy reopen. We need good ideas from both sides. That's why this election is so terribly important,” Warner explained.
