SUFFOLK, Va. - "The witch is back!" and the Sanderson sisters are coming to Suffolk.
On Saturday, October 17, Bennett’s Creek Park located at 3000 Bennetts Creek Park Road will transform into a 'Carpool Cinema.'
Family and friends will be able to enjoy the movie "Hocus Pocus" inside their vehicles! The event is free and open to the public.
This is the City of Suffolk's first big event during the pandemic. Previous attempts to hold Carpool Cinema were rained out.
"The world of special events has changed dramatically. We're just brainstorming for all the events that can be virtual or socially distanced," said Chelsea Morgan, Special Events Coordinator for the City of Suffolk. "[This event] allows people to safely enjoy activities in the park and folks are able to stay in their car and stay safe."
There will be no concessions available, but guests are welcomed to bring their own food and snacks to the park.
The park will open at 6 p.m. for parking, and the movie will start at around 7 p.m. It is advised to arrive early, because space is limited.
Pets are welcomed and must be on a leash when outside the vehicle. Attendees must also practice social distancing at this event.
The park will be closed from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. to prepare for the event.
Another Carpool Cinema was scheduled for Saturday, October 24, but it was canceled due to projected rainfall. "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" was scheduled to be screened in Downtown Suffolk outside the Godwin Courts Building before the event's cancellation.
