NORFOLK, Va. - Norfolk Festevents is presenting a new Stay-at-Home schedule of events amid the coronavirus pandemic.

People flock to Town Point Park in Norfolk throughout the year for the waterfront activities put on by Norfolk Festevents, but the 2020 season has been a washout so far.

In response, organizers came up with a two-week, "stay-at-home" series to bring people together safely.

"We just feel it’s important to stay connected with the community. Our community looks to Festevents for entertainment, for ideas, for ways to come together, and it’s been really exciting and rewarding to see the sort of feedback that we’re getting," says CEO Karen Scherberger.

The new series is set to bring family-friendly entertainment and activities to homes through live videos and interactive experiences.

The Festevents Stay-At-Home series transforms elements of festivals, such as live music, food and drinks and family fun into a virtual format.

All events and performances will be streamed live on the Norfolk Festevents Facebook page.

Live musical performances from local musicians Lewis McGehee, Mike Proffitt and Michael Lille and live cooking Q&As from Hampton Roads food writer Patrick Evans-Hylton will be featured.

"This is our way of keeping the spirit alive, keeping people entertained, giving them something new and different to do," says Scherberger.

The series also features indoor scavenger hunts, storytelling, fitness and healthy lifestyle tips and much more.

The events will last anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour. Scherberger says they’ll consider expanding the series until people can get back outside to enjoy their live events safely.
