Norfolk, Va. Beach report another daily increase of over 100 coronavirus cases each

The Virginia Department of Health released their daily updated numbers involving coronavirus cases within the state.

According to their website, there are now 74,431 total cases, 71,570 of which are confirmed and 2,861 are probable. There are 2,007 total coronavirus related deaths, with 1,903 being confirmed and 104 being probable.

The case numbers are up by 904, and deaths are up by 15 since Wednesday.

Norfolk has reported 294 new cases, and Virginia Beach has reported 378 cases this week.

The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association also updated their numbers. As of Thursday, there are 690 people currently being hospitalized for coronavirus. There are 444 people currently receiving inpatient hospital care whose test results are pending. Combining both confirmed and pending, there are 1,134 people hospitalized for coronavirus related illness. There are 53 more hospitalizations being counted for from Wednesday's number.

248 confirmed positive patients, and those whose test results are pending, are currently hospitalized in the ICU. This is an increase of 2 from Wednesday.

118 hospital patients, both confirmed for coronavirus, and those with test results pending, are currently on a ventilator. 644 ventilators are being used in hospitals out of the 3,126 in the state - that's 21% usage. There are five more patients now on ventilators and 71 additional ventilators added from Wednesday's count.

9,644 patients who have been hospitalized for coronavirus have been discharged. 117 additional people have been counted as discharged from Wednesday.

  • Chesapeake 1,509 cases, 161 hospitalized, 24 deaths (+68 cases, +1 hospitalization, +1 death from Wednesday)
  • Accomack 1,045 cases, 73 hospitalized, 14 deaths (+1 hospitalization from Wednesday)
  • Northampton 276 cases, 41 hospitalized, 28 deaths (+1 case from Wednesday)
  • Hampton 607 cases, 42 hospitalized, 4 deaths (+15 cases from Wednesday)
  • Norfolk 1,888 cases, 134 hospitalized, 19 deaths (+146 cases from Wednesday, +1 hospitalization, +1 death from Wednesday)
  • James City County 390 cases, 59 hospitalized, 16 deaths (+2 cases from Wednesday)
  • Newport News 940 cases, 52 hospitalized, 10 deaths (+40 cases, +1 hospitalization from Wednesday)
  • Poquoson 23 cases, 2 hospitalized, 0 deaths (+0 cases from Wednesday)
  • Williamsburg 88 cases, 12 hospitalized, 6 deaths (+1 case from Wednesday)
  • York County 181 cases, 11 hospitalized, 3 deaths (+1 case, +1 hospitalization from Wednesday)
  • Portsmouth 827 cases, 95 hospitalized, 19 deaths (+43 cases, +6 hospitalizations from Wednesday)
