YORKTOWN, Va. - Your wedding day should be a special day that you look back on for years to come.
When the time comes and you're focused on living in the moment, Dominic Davis is focused on making the moment last.
"When we create a film, we put our heart into it. We put our joy into it, we put so much effort into bringing emotion into the film," he said.
Behind the scenes, but very much part of the big day, Davis and his team at DreamClip Films, located in Yorktown, make wedding days last forever. Davis started the company about 10 years ago and services mostly brides and grooms in the Richmond and Hampton Roads areas, but has been known to travel elsewhere across the state.
Like most things during the pandemic, the wedding industry was hit hard and COVID forced many couples to re-think their plans. Upset by what was happening, Davis had an idea to give back.
"What I'm offering is a wedding package, worth $4,000, for a healthcare worker that's working on the front line of COVID-19. [Someone] that, you know, has been through so much, and is still going through a lot, and has so much on their shoulders. I want to give something back," Davis said.
According to Davis, the winner will receive :
- 2 Cinematographers
- 7 Hours of Coverage
- 2-3 Minute Highlight Film
- 14 Minute Feature Film
- Edited Films
- Digital Download Of Both Films
- Movie Selection Screen
The contest is open now to any healthcare worker, like a doctor or nurse, within 75 miles of Yorktown. To enter all you have to do is write a small blurb explaining your experience on the front line and how COVID has impacted your career.
Davis suggested a few prompts like, "What has gotten you through the day? Why do you think you deserve the free wedding package? What keeps you going? What keeps you motivated to go [to work]. Then that's it - hit submit. We can't wait to read your stories."
From now until January 31, you can enter either on Facebook or through the DreamClip Films website. The winner will be announced on February 5 on Facebook.
"They are putting their life on the line to protect us," he said. "If we can do anything to help you guys make a magical moment or a better day or something that you can remember for the rest of your life, we want to be a part of that."
