HAMPTON, Va. - Hampton University has a new COVID-19 clinic on wheels.

A newly renovated RV will operate as a clinic that will support underserved Hampton Roads communities, where the virus disproportionally affects people of color.

“If we can just get to them when they can't get to us, it extends life; it extends the quality of life," says Michelle Penn-Marshall, the Vice-President of Research at Hampton University.

Additionally, Hampton University's Convocation Center will serve as a vaccination site for veterans and their care givers beginning March 8 as HU teams up with the Hampton VA Medical Center.

Dr. William R. Harvey believes that Hampton University has the financing, capacity and knowledge through subject matter expertise in the Schools of Nursing, Pharmacy, Science, Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communications, and the Hampton University Proton Therapy Institute to help in fight against the virus.

“Hampton University is uniquely qualified and prepared to deliver this much needed life saving service to our underserved communities,” said Harvey.
