Police say around 10 a.m., an officer conducted a routine traffic stop near the intersection when the driver of a stopped vehicle accelerated and crashed into the barriers. The driver was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The driver has since been identified by police as Raymond White, 62. He's facing the following charges, police say: attempt to elude, reckless driving not under control, failure to obey a traffic signal, and a handheld violation.
The incident caused the southbound lanes of Victory Boulevard to close until the railroad equipment is repaired.
