PORTSMOUTH, Va. — A man was arrested after allegedly shooting and seriously injuring a woman on Choate Street early Wednesday morning, according to Portsmouth police.
Police say Lamont Eugene Stevenson, 49, was arrested and charged with the following: attempted second-degree murder, aggravated malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, shooting within a building, shooting in commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Stevenson's arrest comes after he allegedly shot and seriously injured a woman in the 300 block of Choate Street around 12:26 a.m. Wednesday morning, police said.
Around 12:26 a.m., a shooting was reported to have taken place on Choate Street. At the scene, a woman was found suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds — she was hospitalized as a result, police stated.
