March 2020 Navy Unit of the Month: Seabees

JOINT EXPEDITIONARY BASE LITTLE CREEK, Va. - The March 2020 Navy Unit of the Month is...the Navy Expeditionary Combat Command Seabee unit!

According to the command's website, "NECC is responsible for organizing, manning, training, equipping, and sustaining the Navy Expeditionary Combat Force (NECF) to execute combat, combat support, and combat service support missions across the full spectrum of naval, joint, and combined operations which enable access from the sea and freedom of action throughout the sea-to-shore and inland operating environments."

The Seabees include construction units that operate on land and underwater, building roads, bridges, bunkers, airfields and more. They also provide military support in both preparing for and recovering from disasters.

Local leadership includes LCDR Kimberly Mazur, Commander Officer of Construction Battalion Maintenance Unit 202 and LCDR James Johncock, Commanding Officer of Underwater Construction Team One.

The Seabees official birthday is March 5, 1942.
