NORFOLK, Va. — "How ya doing?" "Doing great. How are you?" "Trying to stay warm," said one customer.
Mudita Cafe on First View Street was buzzing with bundled-up folks looking to warm up.
Norfolk native Lucian Montagna and his wife, Priyanka, make a point of getting out and shopping local even in a winter storm.
"What brings you down here today?" "Just trying to support a local business. I come from a locally owned family business," said Montagna.
While the cold doesn’t bother her husband, it’s another story for Priyanka.
"I’m not a fan of the cold. I don’t feel like I’m built for winter. I’ll look at it — it’s pretty, but I’m not a big fan," said Priyanka.
So she dressed accordingly.
"I’ve got fleece gloves and multiple layers — a long-sleeve shirt, a fleece and a jacket. My hat is fleece-lined."
And some fresh, hot coffee helps, too.
"It’s that cozy feeling. Who doesn’t want to be inside a coffee shop with the snow falling outside?" said cafe manager Kate Bianchi.
Mudita Cafe is a cozy neighborhood gathering spot to stay warm and a positive part of the Hampton Roads community.
