VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Virginia Task Force 2 was activated Saturday afternoon to support the response to Hurricane Isaias.

According to a news release from the city of Virginia Beach, the task force got the call at noon. Forty five members of the task force were scheduled to leave from Virginia Beach Saturday evening.

According to the release, they will meet up and work with a FEMA team near the North Carolina-Tennessee border. They will help local agencies with requests for assistance as needed.

Hurricane Isaias, the first hurricane of the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season, made landfall near Destin, Florida Friday night as a category 2 storm.
