21-year-old arrested in connection with deadly shooting near nightclub: VBPD

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A person was arrested in connection with a shooting that left a person dead outside near a nightclub Saturday morning, the Virginia Beach Police Department said Monday.

21-year-old Cesar Bermudez Evans was arrested and charged with second degree murder and use of a firearm in commission of felony, according to Virginia Beach police.

Police say they responded to the 400 block of N. Great Neck Road at 2:15 a.m. Saturday morning for reports of a person who was shot. When officers arrived, they found 20-year-old Juelle Morton person dead at the scene.

Venue 112, a Virginia Beach nightclub, said they were "deeply saddened" by the shooting, in a post on social media. The nightclub will be closed for two days following the shooting.

"Our hearts and prayers are with everyone affected by this senseless act of violence," the social media post reads.

We're told the incident is still under investigation.
