NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — A man was arrested after barricading himself inside of a house, according to Newport News police.
Kenneth Joye, 61, was charged with two counts of brandishing a firearm and two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in addition to an emergency protective order.
Around 4:00 p.m., police responded to the 7700 block of Roanoke Avenue after receiving a report of Joye flashing a firearm at a neighbor. Officers attempted to make contact with the Joye, but he had barricaded himself inside of a house, refusing to come out, according to police.
The barricade situation led to the Newport News Police Tactical Operations Unit being deployed. After a couple of hours, police say they were able to enter the home and arrest Joye.
No injuries to citizens or law enforcement was reported, according to police.
