SUFFOLK, Va. — A Suffolk veteran marked a milestone Saturday with a celebration at Poplar Run Baptist Church.
Tommie Lawrence Sr., a U.S. Army corporal, turned 106 years old. Family, friends and community members gathered to honor his life and service.
The event drew a large crowd of well-wishers who joined together to celebrate the centenarian’s birthday.
