Kamilah Williams

Multimedia Journalist

Kamilah Williams joined the News 3 team in June 2025. She is excited to call the Hampton Roads area home.

Prior to joining WTKR, Kamilah worked at CBS affiliate 13WMAZ in Macon, Georgia, as a Weekend Morning Anchor and Multiskilled Journalist. While in central Georgia, she covered stories ranging from healthcare access in rural areas to multi-million dollar road projects. Most notably, she reported on the death of Brianna Grier, who fell out of a deputy’s car after experiencing a mental health crisis.

Her coverage of Grier earned her a regional Edward R. Murrow Award, as well as a National Murrow Award for her role in covering family tragedies.

Before moving to Georgia, Kamilah earned her Master’s degree in Mass Communication from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University in December 2021. There, she won an Emmy Award for a segment related to COVID-19.

She also earned her Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, with a minor in Political Science, from the University of Kentucky in May 2020. While there, she was a student-athlete on the track and field team.

Kamilah is also a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.

When she’s not working, Kamilah enjoys creating fitness videos, traveling, and spending time with friends.

She is thrilled to make new connections in the Portsmouth community, where she will be covering local stories and telling yours.
