UPDATE: Hampton man accused of stabbing, shooting 73-year-old relative to death

HAMPTON, Va. — Hampton police are asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect after a man was found shot and stabbed inside a home in West Hampton on Saturday night.

When officers arrived, they spoke with a man at the residence who told them the person they were looking for was asleep. Officers insisted on checking the individual’s welfare, and the man allowed them inside.

Officers went to a bedroom and discovered the person deceased. Police said the victim had both gunshot wounds and stab wounds.

Investigators said the circumstances leading up to the homicide remain unclear as the Major Crimes Unit continues to pursue leads.
