VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Hundreds of people gathered for a vigil honoring Charlie Kirk at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront on Wednesday, a week after his assassination

There were a few protesters, but generally the event was peaceful.

The vigil started at 7 p.m. near the Neptune statue on 31st Street.

The social media post announcing this event asked people to "join us for an evening of prayer and remembrance for Charlie Kirk and his family." The post also mentioned that there will be a police presence at this vigil.

Around 1,800 people responded to the Facebook event listing post.
