Neighbors said they heard arguing and then a loud "boom," according to News 3 reporter Jessica Davis who was at the scene on Thursday. A heavy police presence was seen in the area, and there appeared to be a body in the middle of the street.
The two victims are Jamarey Tykel Johnson, 19, and a male juvenile, according to Elizabeth City Chief of Police Eddie Graham Jr.
Graham said that this is an isolated incident because the victims knew each other. There is no imminent danger, but he said police are looking for a shooter.
"Family is deeply hurt and they need your prayers," Graham said. "We all need prayer."
Graham said Elizabeth City police are using all of their resources and cameras in the investigation.
"We won't rest until we get to the bottom of this," Graham said.
