MANTEO, N.C. — One of three teens charged in connection with a deadly shooting at the Avalon Fishing Pier last year is out of jail after a judge lowered his bond.
Court documents obtained by News 3 show 18-year-old Zachary Rose was released from jail Friday after his bond was lowered from $750,000 to $300,000 earlier this month. Rose will not be required to wear an ankle monitor, but he will only be allowed to leave his home with a parent.
Rose, 17-year-old Henry Hargis, and 17-year-old Kayden Lindsey are charged with first-degree murder in the death of 19-year-old Zane Hughes. The shooting took place in the parking lot of the Avalon Fishing Pier on July 31. 2025.
All three face life sentences without parole. Rose and Lindsey also face charges of being accessories to the crime.
Lindsey was released from jail on a $500,000 secured bond in December and was ordered to wear an ankle monitor that tracks his location at all times, but was not placed on house arrest.
Hargis remains in custody.
