HAMPTON, Va. — A man is now in custody after he barricaded himself when Hampton police tried to serve a warrant Wednesday afternoon, according to the city’s police division.
Police say Jason Holland, 50, of Hampton, is a suspect in a shooting that happened in the city back in May.
When officers tried to serve him a warrant in the 700 block of East Little Back River Road at 12:41 p.m., police say he barricaded himself.
Holland was eventually taken into custody around 3:30 p.m. on charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, aggravated malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, discharging a firearm in public, and reckless handling of a firearm, police say.
Police say he was wanted for a shooting that happened in the 200 block of Libby Street on May 21. In that incident, police said they found a man lying in the road seriously injured from gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital.
Police have not shared the identity of the person they arrested yet, but an update is expected later Wednesday.
