HAMPTON, Va. — A child was hospitalized after a firearm discharged at Fort Eustis housing on Saturday, according to a U.S. Army public affairs officer.

The incident occurred on Aug. 8. The Army public affairs officer told News 3 that the child is expected to make a full recovery.

The Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division is continuing to investigate the incident.
